Këto mëposhtë janë idiomat më të perdorura në gjuhën angleze dhe janë gjithashtu frazat që do të pasurojnë fjalorin tuaj dhe do t’ju bëjnë të dukeni si një folës profesionist!

1. ‘Once in a blue moon’ – “Rrallë e për mall!”  

Shpjegimi: Një dukuri që ndodh shumë rrallë.

Shembull: “I only go to the cinema once in a blue moon.”     

2. ‘When pigs fly’– “Kur fluturon gomari.” 

Shpjegimi: Kur diçka nuk ka gjasa të ndodhi kurrë.

Shembull: “When pigs fly she’ll tidy up her room.”

3. ‘To cost an arm and a leg’– “Kushton sa qimet e kokës.”

Shpjegimi: Diçka që është shumë e shtrenjtë.

Shembull: “Fuel these days costs and arm and a leg.”

4. ‘A piece of cake’– “Si buka me djathë.” 

Shpjegimi: Kur një veprim është shumë i lehtë për t'u kryer.

Shembull: “The English test was a piece of cake.”

5. ‘To cut corners’ – “I bie shkurt.” 

Shpjegimi: Të bësh diçka pa përgjegjësi, sa për të kaluar rradhën.

Shembull: “They really cut corners when they built this bathroom; the shower is leaking.”

6. ‘To add insult to injury’ –“T’i hedhësh benzinëzjarrit.” 

Shpjegim: Të përkeqësosh situatën.

Shembull: “To add insult to injury the car drove off without stopping after knocking me off my bike.”

7. ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover’ – “Mos e gjyko njëlibër nga kopertina.” 

Shpjegim: Të mos gjykosh/vlerësosh dikë ose diçka vetëm nga aparenca.

Shembull: “I thought this no-brand bread would be horrible; turns out you can’t judge a book by its cover.”

8. ‘Break a leg’–“Paç fat” 

Shpjegim: Një urim që i jepet dikujt.

Shembull: “Break a leg Sam, I’m sure your performance will be great.”

9. ‘To hit the nail on the head’– “I ke rënë pikës!” 

Shpjegim: Të përshkruash/tregosh një situatë/histori në mënyrë ekzakte.

Shembull: “He hit the nail on the head when he said this company needs more HR support.”

10.’Spill the beans’- Të hapësh thesin” 

Shpjegim: Të japësh një informacion sekret/të tregosh një sekret.

Shembull:  Trust her to spill the beans, she never could keep a secret.
